The ground centering spacer or centering sleeve is a hollow cylindrical part whose outside diameter has a very precise tolerance, in the micron range. This element enables extremely precise alignment between 2 parts, e.g. the centering of a cylinder head on an engine block. The recess allows a screw to pass through to secure the parts.
