- 20 million inserts designed per year
- Co-designer of custom fasteners for 100 years and owner of the Intervis® brand
- From M2.5 to M16 and from 6 mm to 22 mm
- Steel (raw, zinc-plated), stainless steel, brass, etc.
The Intervis® self-tapping threaded insert is screwed directly into a smooth hole drilled beforehand. The intervis® cuts the thread in the part itself. It is ideal to be installed in medium-hard materials: light alloys, compressed wood or plastic materials.

What is a threaded slotted insert?
THEthreaded insert with intervis slot, also known as threaded socket Intervis® is a cylindrical fastener used to self-create strong and durable threads in a wide variety of materials such as plastics, composites, and soft and medium-hard metals.
Thanks to its ingenious design, this threaded slotted insert offers a reliable and effective solution for strengthening fasteners in industrial applications requiring high assembly strength.
A threaded slotted insert is used as an original fastener or to repair a broken thread.
Whether for the assembly of plastic parts in the automotive industry or for the attachment of components in composite airplanes, the Intervis® threaded slotted insert guarantees optimal pull-out resistance and very interesting mechanical properties in the most demanding environments.
What is the particularity of the Intervis threaded slotted insert?
LThe threaded slotted insert belongs to the family of threaded inserts, also called self-tapping threaded inserts, what distinguishes it from other fasteners is its slot in addition, it allows self-tapping and thus simplified installation of your insert.
Generally, thethreaded insert with self-tapping slot is used to fix elements in flexible materials such as:
- The wood
- The plastic
- Composites
We find slotted threaded inserts in a variety of demanding and standardized industrial applications such as:
- In the car
- In the fixing of electronic cards.
- The fixing of components in bikes, skis and snowboards.
- In plastics processing as an overmolded element.
How is an Intervis® threaded slotted insert made?
The start of the manufacturing process for Intervis® slotted threaded inserts is similar to that of conventional inserts.
First step: the external thread of the raw material coil
This stage is called rolling because the tube passes between 3 rollers and the rolling system, which will cold deform the part by compressing it to create the external thread of the threaded intervis insert.
Second step: cutting the raw material tube
The tube is cut to the desired length.
It is possible to add chamfers or finishes to the material, such as for the threaded insert for wood, or the BFUP threaded insert for concrete.
Step Three: Milling
A milling cutter will cut the part and create this characteristic slot of our Intervis® threaded insert.
Final step: tapping
This is the internal thread of the Intervis® slotted threaded insert.
To do this, a rotating tap will pass inside the insert to give it its thread. The threaded insert then becomes a threaded threaded insert and therefore a self-tapping threaded insert.

What are the advantages of a threaded insert?
Each type of threaded insert has distinct functionalities, accompanied by advantages both in terms of use and in their respective technical specifications.
THEthreaded slotted insert intervis® is a part that stands out for several notable advantages compared to other types of self-tapping threaded inserts, the intervis threaded insert guarantees:
- Increased strength: The innovative design of the threaded insert with its three slots gives it exceptional strength in the face of tensile and shear forces. This reinforced resistance ensures a robust and durable attachment, perfectly suited to applications that require maximum safety.
- Durability over time: The slots in the threaded insert allow it to last longer in soft materials, in fact, the slots allow the insert to be distributed in the material, this leads to a reduction in stresses as well as the risk of breakage.
- Very quick installation: As there is no need to create a tap for the receiving hole, one step in the installation is eliminated and precious time is saved by using the intervis threaded insert.
